Horse & Steel Guitar

I see you up there in the window
as you’re looking down here at me.
I’m sing a beautiful love song
while kneeling on one knee.

My faithful horse is at my side.
My steel guitar is in tune.
The sky is clear, the stars are bright
and there’s a big, full golden moon.

Your heart is as though it’s on fire
as I sing words of love to you.
You quickly rush down to my waiting arms
and we ride off into the blue.

Then from this dream I awaken,
A bit disappointed of course;
because I really can’t hold a tune,
and I’ve never had a horse.

I don’t play a steel guitar
and the moon is not in sight.
The clouds are hiding twinkling stars.
It’s a dark and dreary night.

Then I saw you sleeping beside me,
and instantly I knew,
I don’t need a horse, or steel guitar.
All I need is you.
