Empty Crib

A little crib lies empty

in the nursery down the hall.

A mother’s precious baby child

has answered heavens call.

She knelt beside the empty crib

where once her baby slept

and said a silent prayer to God.

And as she prayed…she wept.

“Dear Lord, my heart is breaking.

and my grief is hard to bear.

To lose a child so dearly loved

brings pain beyond compare.

Though so hard to understand

why little babies die.

You’re a wise and loving Father

and I shall not question why.

I believe my little angel,

is in Paradise with You.

Waiting there, beyond the veil

‘till I am called there too.

And when my life on earth is done

how great my joy will be,

when from a little crib of gold

arms reach up for me.”
