Good Intentions

He fell down on his knees.

His heart filled with regret.

And pleaded with the Lord,

“Dear God, don’t take me yet.

There are many things in life

that I have left undone,

and I fear I’m yet unworthy

to be with You, and Your Son.

I once read ‘Love thy Neighbor’

with eyes that couldn’t see.

For I was much too busy, Lord,

for anyone but me.

So I let opportunities

for service pass me by,

believing there’d be lots of time

for that before I die.

 “Tomorrow”, was my motto.

“Procrastination”, was my name.

And now that it’s too late for me,

I hang my head in shame.

For I know now, the greatest joy

and blessings from above,

Come to those who’s hearts

and minds are full of Christ-like love.
